I arrived in Istanbul at 8:30 p.m. yesterday and it took me 3 hours to find my hotel.  All my mapping apps and Garmin GPS couldn’t figure out how to get me to a small pedestrian street where my hotel was located in this 10,000 year old city.  I finally hired a local taxi to lead me to the location but he only got me close.  The hotel sent out someone to lead me the rest of the way.

Today was full of thunder, lightening, and huge down spurs of rain in this great city called Istanbul, but I managed to get out and experience sections of the city. Half of the city is in Europe and half Asia. Its history goes back 10,000 years. I will spend a couple more days here to take in as much as possible.
