I began my Adventure. I said so long to my favorite barista,Samantha, at Starbucks and my Green Knights hosted the launch at U.S. Southern Command. The escorted me up to Fort Pierce after treating me to lunch.
I successfully crashed tested both the bike and me by going down on the Florida Turnpike at about 60 mph. The test was a success. I slid along the highway for over 50 yards and emerged without a scratch and the bike only had a few minor scratches. It really pays to have and wear good protective gear (I wear rukka) and protect your bike with crash bars. The Green Knights and the Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue crew had me and the bike up and back on the road in no time. THANKS GUYS!!!
Watching you go down is something I will never forget. It is a testament to good riding gear and rider skills. Do us a favor, make it the only one. We will eagerly follow your travels. Best wishes, my friend, and stay safe.
WE are talking about you here at SOUTHCOM this morning. I just read about your “little test” and we are happy you are ready and safe.
We’ll keep an eye on you.
Pete says: “don’t break a leg” 🙂
I too am glad that the “test” was successful but more importantly that you are ok. I hope you have made it out of Florida by now. Jay said he ordered some riding gear for he and his wife because of you. Good Job. Stay safe and we’ll talk soon.
Hi Brad, I took today as an admin day. Enjoyed the high winds and rain from the comfort of my hotel room. I should clear Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi tomorrow.
A successful ‘crash test’ … Awesome! Trai & I will monitor your route, and pray that GOD grants you traveling mercies! Shalom!
YOU ARE GOD’S DIVINE PROTECTION!!
I see you are making great progress today! They are looking for you in Texas.
Hey Lacy, you cut out without getting your dinner, so I guess I will have to deliver when you come to Romania..Have a safe trip and keep in touch.. I will be following your trip.
Sam
Great. You’re buying 🙂
Hey Big Brother! I’m so glad you’re well & safely crash-tested your equipment, which was obviously well designed & inspected by God. However, you seem to have left some damage on the Florida Turnpike, not to mention a 70-car pileup that was still being cleared as you rode off into the sunset…”hi-o-Silva…awaaaayyyy!!!”
Next time, keep the ca,mera rolling. Wait a minute… I mean…no more playing Twister-home run slide- “look Ma, no hands” on your bike & no more showing off in front of your friends!!! :-). I love you mostest! Be safe, keep God with ya, & remember…I’m watchin’ you!
Lacy, it was a pleasure to meet you today. NOW I see why you are in Alamo, and how that bike got banged up. You didn’t tell us a crash test dummy had it. :p
Erin and I will enjoy watching your progress as you trek across the globe. Be well, stay safe, and spread the word. 🙂
Lin, it was a true pleasure meeting someone who has worked with Doctors Without Boarders. I look for to your comments throughout my trek.
Lacy, it’s me Waldo (Red KLR 650 from SOUTHCOM). We are glad you are moving along. How is the equipment holding up? Any issues with the bike thus far? Be safe out there in Cali and make sure to stop in at Napa Valley and enjoy a nice glass of wine. Salud!
Hi Waldo — The Bike is super. I repaired the damage suffered on the first day which only a few scratches to the front panel, new engine guards, kick stand and rear left bag replacement. As far as preventive care the only thing I had done was an oil and air filter change. The equipment is working fine except for the GOPRO — I am working on that.
Hello Lacy – what a wonderful and Noble cause you have undertaken! I was out online one day and came across your information. How very impressive. Just as all the others, I too now look forward to following your travels. In case the name is unfamiliar, it was Myra Lane when we met. I was married to the late Lt. Cmdr Ray Lane. The two of you were in Department Head school together in Newport, RI. Godspeed and His protection be upon you. Take God and take care!
Hi Myra, I am so glad you contacted me and will follow my adventure. I making arrangements to travel to Europe for the nest leg of the trip. Please continue to freely comment. God bless.
